How to Disable Lost Mode on Devices Without Internet Connection

Disable Lost Mode on iOS Devices without an internet connection — solutions using SIM cards and RJ45 adapters.

3 min read

TL;DR

Disable lost mode on a device without internet by using a SIM card with data or a Lightning to RJ45 adapter to restore connectivity.

Sometimes, when enabling lost mode on a Device, it can lose its internet connection, making it unreachable from Applivery. This prevents you from disabling the lost mode.

The most common scenario is when an Apple device in lost mode runs out of battery and turns off. When it's turned on again, the Device has lost its internet connection. Therefore, it's impossible to send the ‘Disable lost mode’ command (or any command) through Applivery because there's no communication between the Device and Applivery.

It's also not possible to connect it to a Wi-Fi network (neither through USB connecting it to the computer, nor sharing data from another Device…) since the screen will be locked down in lost mode.

However, there are a couple of potential solutions:

1
Using a SIM Card

The first option is to use a SIM card with the PIN deactivated and an active data network. Insert it into the Device, and it will automatically connect to the internet and receive all pending commands, including the “disable lost mode” command.

2
Using a Lightning to RJ45 Adapter

A second option is to use a Lightning to RJ45 adapter to connect to an existing wired internet network. This achieves the same goal.

Note

Ensure the SIM card has sufficient data and the Lightning to RJ45 adapter is compatible with the Device.

Key Takeaways

  • Lost mode can be problematic without internet access.
  • SIM cards with data can restore connectivity.
  • Lightning to RJ45 adapters offer a wired connection solution.
  • Applivery requires internet to disable lost mode remotely.
  • Ensure SIM card has sufficient data and adapter is compatible.

Devices in lost mode may lose internet connectivity, preventing Applivery from sending the 'Disable lost mode' command.

When the device is turned on again, it may lose its internet connection, making it unreachable by Applivery.

No, connecting to Wi-Fi or sharing data via USB is not possible when a device is locked down in lost mode.

Inserting a SIM card with deactivated PIN and active data will automatically connect the device to the internet, allowing Applivery to send commands.

A Lightning to RJ45 adapter connects the device to a wired internet network, enabling communication with Applivery to disable lost mode.
